ALB Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed to recognize amino acids 39-164 near the N-terminus of human serum albumin (ALB), also known as human serum albumin (HSA) or simply albumin. Anti-ALB antibody (F-10) is recommended for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) applications across mouse, rat, and human species. Serum albumin is the most abundant protein in blood plasma, synthesized in the liver, and plays a crucial role in maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood, which is essential for regulating fluid balance between blood vessels and tissues. Additionally, serum albumin functions as a carrier protein, binding and transporting a wide range of ligands including water, fatty acids, calcium, sodium, bilirubin, hormones, potassium, and various drugs, thereby facilitating their distribution and availability throughout the body. The ability of serum albumin to bind these molecules is vital for metabolic regulation and homeostasis, ensuring that essential substances are delivered to where they are needed while also aiding in the removal of waste products. Post-translational modifications of serum albumin, such as glycation and oxidation, enhance binding capacity and stability, allowing effective performance of transport and regulatory functions under diverse physiological conditions. Furthermore, serum albumin′s interaction with other proteins, such as fatty acid-binding proteins and the neonatal Fc receptor, is important for recycling and prolonged half-life in circulation. Mutations in the ALB gene can lead to disorders like familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia (FDH), which affects thyroid hormone binding and underscores the clinical significance of serum albumin′s functional interactions. ALB monoclonal antibody (F-10) is an indispensable tool for advancing biomedical research and diagnostic applications, enabling a comprehensive understanding of albumin′s essential roles in health and disease.
