ALB Antibody (E-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed to recognize amino acids 39-164 near the N-terminus of human serum albumin (ALB), also known as human serum albumin (HSA). Anti-ALB antibody (E-11) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) applications specifically in human samples. Serum albumin is the most abundant protein in plasma, synthesized in the liver, and plays a critical role in maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood, which is essential for regulating fluid balance between blood vessels and tissues. Structurally, albumin consists of a single polypeptide chain with multiple binding sites that facilitate the transport of a wide range of ligands, including fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and various drugs. Albumin interacts with several key proteins such as fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) and the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), which are important for the transport and recycling of fatty acids and maintaining albumin′s long half-life in circulation, respectively. These interactions are vital for the efficient distribution and availability of essential molecules throughout the body, underscoring albumin′s role in metabolic regulation and homeostasis. Additionally, albumin binds to and modulates the activity of hormones like thyroxine and various drug molecules, impacting their bioavailability and pharmacokinetics. Post-translational modifications of albumin, including glycation and oxidation, further influence its binding properties and interactions with other proteins, ensuring functionality under diverse physiological conditions. Mutations in the ALB gene can lead to disorders such as familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia (FDH), which affects thyroid hormone binding and highlights the clinical significance of albumin interactions. ALB monoclonal antibody (E-11) supports researchers in investigating albumin-related physiological processes and disease mechanisms.
