SEE ALSO...

CD79A Antibody (HM47) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD79A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD79A (HM47) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD79A protein, also known as immunoglobulin-associated alpha chain, plays a crucial role in B cell antigen receptor (BCR) complex, which is essential for B cell activation and immune response. Located on B cell surfaces, CD79A forms a heterodimer with CD79B, facilitating association with membrane immunoglobulins such as IgM and IgD. This interaction is vital for proper signaling and activation of B cells upon antigen recognition, as cytoplasmic tails of CD79A and CD79B contain immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) that recruit and activate tyrosine kinases, leading to downstream signaling cascades. CD79A′s ability to mediate these critical processes underscores CD79A′s importance in adaptive immune response, making anti-CD79A antibody (HM47) an invaluable tool for researchers studying B cell biology and related immunological pathways.

Does this antibody bind the extracellular portion of CD79A? Can it be used for surface staining?

Asked by: SeanC
Thank you for your question. No epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody as of yet, so unfortunately, there is no information about the exact binding site at this point in time.

Can CD79A (HM47): sc-20064 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD79A (HM47): sc-20064 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
