SEE ALSO...

CD36 Antibody (185-1G2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody designed to detect CD36, also known as platelet glycoprotein 4 (GPIV), fatty acid translocase (FAT), glycoprotein IIIb (GPIIIB), scavenger receptor class B member 3 (SCARB3), and PAS IV. CD36 is a multifunctional membrane glycoprotein expressed on platelets, monocytes, and umbilical vein endothelial cells, where CD36 facilitates binding to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids, and oxidized low-density lipoproteins (LDL). CD36 plays a critical role in essential biological processes such as phagocytosis and lipid recycling, which are vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and the continuous production of mature spermatozoa. Additionally, CD36 acts as a key cell adhesion molecule, interacting with thrombospondins to regulate various adhesive processes across different cell types. Mutations in CD36 can lead to platelet glycoprotein deficiency, affecting normal platelet function and hemostasis. Anti-CD36 antibody (185-1G2) exhibits reactivity in mouse, rat, and human species when used in immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications, providing researchers with a reliable tool for investigating CD36-related pathways. CD36 monoclonal antibody (185-1G2) is recommended for researchers studying atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, and inflammatory diseases.

Can CD36 (185-1G2): sc-21772 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD36 (185-1G2): sc-21772 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

However, sc-21772 is AF 488, but not FITC, also can use sc-2856 as isotype? thanks.

Asked by: shang
Thank you for your question. If you are using this primary antibody directly conjugated to AF488, sc-21772 AF488: CD36 Antibody (185-1G2) then it is a mouse monoclonal with isotype IgG2a (kappa light chain). It is not suitable to use sc-2856 as an isotype control for this antibody because it is conjugated to FITC and not AF488. Our recommended isotype control for use with this AF488 conjugated primary antibody, is sc-3891: normal mouse IgG2a Alexa Fluor® 488.
