    SEE ALSO...

RDH5 Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RDH5 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RDH5 (G-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Retinol dehydrogenase 5 (RDH5), also known as 11-cis retinol dehydrogenase or RDH1, is a 318 amino acid protein that belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family. RDH5 is primarily located in the retinal pigment epithelium, where RDH5 plays a crucial role in the visual cycle by catalyzing the conversion of all-trans retinol (vitamin A) to 11-cis retinal, the essential chromophore for visual pigments. RDH5 function is vital for the regeneration of photopigments in both cone and rod cells, which is necessary for normal vision. Mutations in the RDH5 gene can lead to fundus albipunctatus, a rare form of stationary night blindness characterized by a delay in the regeneration of these photopigments, underscoring RDH5′s importance in visual health.
