GART Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects GART in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GART, or GAR transformylase, is a pivotal folate-dependent trifunctional enzyme composed of 1,010 amino acids, playing a crucial role in the de novo biosynthesis of purines, which are essential for energy metabolism, cell signaling, and cellular reproduction. The enzyme exhibits three distinct activities: phosphoribosylglycinamide formyltransferase, phosphoribosylglycinamide synthetase, and AICAR (phosphoribosylaminoimidazole synthetase), making GART indispensable for the synthesis of nucleotides necessary for RNA and DNA production. Notably, GART is highly conserved across vertebrates, and GART expression is regulated through alternative splicing, resulting in two isoforms. The importance of GART extends to cancer biology, as rapidly proliferating cancer cells demand increased purine levels to support their growth, positioning GART as a potential target for therapeutic intervention in cancer chemotherapy. Anti-GART antibody (F-8) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the role of purine metabolism in various biological processes and disease states.
