CTH Antibody (F-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CTH protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CTH Antibody (F-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CTH, or cystathionine γ-lyase, is a crucial enzyme in the trans-sulfuration pathway, primarily located in the cytoplasm, where CTH (F-1) catalyzes the β-disulfide elimination reaction that produces ammonium, pyruvate, and thiocysteine in a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent manner. The thiocysteine generated can subsequently react with other thiols, leading to the production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a signaling molecule that plays a vital role in various physiological processes. CTH expression in tissues such as the kidney, liver, vascular smooth muscle cells, and enterocytes underscores CTH′s importance in regulating cellular functions, including cell growth, modulation of neuronal excitability, and relaxation of smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, the endogenous production of H2S is essential for maintaining vascular homeostasis and influencing blood pressure regulation. Mutations in the CTH gene can lead to cystathioninuria, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the accumulation of cystathionine in plasma and increased urinary excretion, highlighting the clinical significance of this enzyme in metabolic pathways.
