SEE ALSO...

Tom22 Antibody (J-31) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Tom22 protein in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tom22 (J-31) antibody comes in a non-conjugated form, offering versatility for various experimental applications. Tom22 functions as a critical component of the mitochondrial preprotein translocase of the outer membrane (Tom) complex, essential for importing nucleus-encoded precursor proteins into mitochondria. This protein complex supports cellular energy production and metabolism by ensuring proper protein transport into mitochondria for processes like oxidative phosphorylation and apoptosis. The Tom machinery includes import receptors like Tom20 and Tom22, forming a heteromeric receptor complex that initiates protein insertion into the outer membrane and guides them to the general import pore (GIP). Tom22 serves as a crucial docking point for both Tom20 and GIP, enabling efficient preprotein translocation. Tom22′s N-terminal negatively charged region and putative transmembrane domain influence protein interactions and stability within the mitochondrial membrane. Human Tom22 gene resides on chromosome 22q12-q13, demonstrating evolutionary conservation across species.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from no crossreactivity in C. elegans detectedwe wanted to test whether this antibody against human TOM22 might crossreact with the ortholog in the nematode C. elegans. Unfortunately, we did not detect a respective band in western blot analysis of C. elegans protein lysate.
