ABCA4 Antibody (3F4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ABCA4 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-ABCA4 antibody (3F4) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing versatility for various experimental needs. ABCA4, a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) superfamily, plays a crucial role in the transport of essential molecules across photoreceptor cell membranes, which are vital for vision. ABCA4 is responsible for the transport of all-trans-retinal, a key component in the visual cycle, thereby preventing the accumulation of toxic byproducts that can lead to photoreceptor cell damage. Exclusive expression of ABCA4 in photoreceptor cells highlights importance in maintaining retinal health and function. Mutations in ABCA4 are linked to several retinal diseases, including autosomal recessive Stargardt disease, which is characterized by early-onset macular degeneration, as well as various forms of cone-rod dystrophy and retinitis pigmentosa. Individuals who are heterozygous for ABCA4 mutations may have an increased risk of developing age-related macular degeneration. ABCA4 is closely related to mouse and human ABC1 and ABC2 proteins and is located on human chromosome 1p22.1, underscoring evolutionary significance and potential as a therapeutic target in retinal diseases.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with ABCA4 Antibody (3F4): sc-65672?

Asked by: jenni
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
