ABC1 Antibody (AB.H10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ABC1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). ABC1 (AB.H10) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. ABC1 protein, also known as ATP-binding cassette transporter 1, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by facilitating the efflux of cholesterol and phospholipids from cells, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of lipids that can lead to atherosclerosis. ABC1 protein is predominantly located in the plasma membrane of various cell types, including macrophages, where ABC1 is essential for the formation of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and the regulation of cholesterol levels in the body. Mutations in the ABC1 gene are associated with Tangier disease, a condition characterized by severely low levels of HDL cholesterol, underscoring the importance of ABC1 in cardiovascular health. ABC1 is widely expressed in human tissues, with particularly high levels found in the liver, lung, adrenal glands, placenta, and fetal tissue, and ABC1 expression is induced during monocyte differentiation and upregulated in the presence of acetylated low-density lipoprotein. ABC1 may also have a dual regulatory function in macrophage lipid metabolism and inflammation, making ABC1 a significant target for research in metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases.
