SEE ALSO...

SPRED1 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SPRED1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SPRED1 (E-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SPRED1, also known as sprouty-related, EVH1 domain containing 1 or NFLS, is a 444 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of one KBD domain, one sprouty domain, and one WH1 domain. SPRED1 is primarily localized to the cell membrane and cholesterol-rich membrane raft fractions, where SPRED1 plays a crucial role in regulating the activity of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) cascade by inhibiting growth-factor-mediated activation of ERK. The regulation of ERK is vital for controlling cell proliferation and differentiation, making SPRED1 an important player in cellular signaling pathways. Additionally, SPRED1 can function as a homodimer or as a heterodimer with SPRED2, and SPRED1 is believed to negatively regulate the development of blood cells in the bone marrow. Mutations in the gene encoding SPRED1 are associated with neurofibromatosis type 1-like syndrome (NFLS), an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by multiple café-au-lait spots, axillary freckling, and macrocephaly, highlighting the significance of SPRED1 in both normal physiology and disease.
