PIWIL3 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PIWIL3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PIWIL3 (C-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PIWIL3 protein, also known as HIWI3, is an 882 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the argonaute family and plays a crucial role in spermatogenesis by repressing transposable elements, thereby maintaining germline integrity. PIWIL3 protein is primarily expressed in the testis and is involved in the piRNA metabolic process, which is essential for the repression of transposable elements during meiosis. PIWIL3 directly binds to piRNAs, which are small RNA molecules that range from 24 to 30 nucleotides and are generated through a Dicer-independent mechanism, primarily derived from transposons and other repetitive sequences. The interaction between PIWIL3 and piRNAs is vital for the formation of complexes that govern the methylation and subsequent repression of transposons, highlighting PIWIL3′s importance in safeguarding genomic stability. PIWIL3 has been implicated in human-specific tumor pathogenesis, making PIWIL3 a significant target for cancer research. The gene encoding PIWIL3 is located on human chromosome 22, which is notable for housing over 500 genes and being the second smallest human chromosome.
