PRX Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PRX protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PRX (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The peroxiredoxin (PRX) family consists of six antioxidant proteins—PRX I, II, III, IV, V, and VI—that play a crucial role in protecting cells from reactive oxygen species (ROS) by preventing metal-catalyzed oxidation of enzymes. PRX proteins primarily utilize thioredoxin as their electron donor for antioxidation, although PRX proteins can interact with various hydroperoxide substrates. Peroxiredoxins are implicated in essential cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and gene expression. PRX I, II, IV, and VI are found diffusely in the cytoplasm, while PRX III and V are specifically localized to mitochondria, highlighting distinct roles in cellular metabolism and signaling. PRX I is expressed across various tissues, including liver, kidney, testis, lung, and nervous system, and PRX I overexpression has been linked to breast cancer, suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis. Elevated levels of PRX I and II have been observed in Alzheimer′s disease and Down syndrome, indicating involvement in pathogenesis of these conditions. PRX IV is notably expressed in many tissues, existing in both a precursor form detected only in testis and a processed secreted form, while PRX V has long and short forms, with long form predominantly expressed in testis and short form found in liver, kidney, heart, and lung. PRX VI, also known as antioxidant protein 2, is highly expressed in epithelial cells and functions independently of other peroxiredoxins, specializing in antioxidant defense, lung phospholipid metabolism, and protecting keratinocytes from ROS-induced cell death.
