
Bioactivity of Adiponectin. Method: 2 groups of 4 mice each were injected with PBS (vehicle), rmAdiponectin and ab157291 at 1µg/g body weight as a tail vein injection. Subsequently, serum glucose levels were monitored over the time indicated by Trinder assay. Plotted is the average of 4 mice. rmAdiponectin represses hepatic glucose production, so serum glucose levels decrease until counter-regulatory mechanisms (i.e. glucagon) become effective. ab157291 demonstrated no significant bioactivity in terms of reduction of serum glucose compared to wildtype in this in vivo assay.
